Getting to the HEAnet offices

From Dublin Airport

By Taxi / Car

There is usually a good supply of taxi cabs lined up outside the Arrivals hall in Dublin airport. As you exit the arrivals hall, turn right. The taxi queue is within 100 metres of your position.

HEAnet's offices in the Irish Financial Services Centre (commonly abbreviated 'IFSC') are easy to find, but work on a new tram line nearby has necessitated a detour for cars, which your taxi driver may not be aware of. The following driving instructions may be beneficial, particularly the last two sections.

The journey by car should take approximately 45 minutes in light to moderate traffic, and cost in the region of EUR 35. At peak times, the journey time and cost will be considerably higher.

Driving Instructions

Remember to drive on the left side of the road. Upon encountering roundabouts, remember that traffic approachs from your right, and that traffic already on the roundabout has priority over you.

Airport to Drumcondra

Follow the Exit signs in Dublin Airport, towards the M1 (City Centre / An Lár). At the exit from the airport, you will encounter a roundabout. Take the second exit from the roundabout, onto the M1. Travel on the M1 until it ends (Whitehall), and becomes the N1/Swords Road. The road continues through Drumcondra. Watch for an overhead rail bridge in Drumcondra - you must take the 4th left turn after this: as you pass under the bridge, you will cross above a canal, and past a public house (The Red Parrot) - take the next left turn - Belvidere Road.

Drumcondra to Summerhill

At the next signal controlled juction, take the left turn onto the North Circular Road (R101).  Continue on the North Circular Road, through another signal controlled junction (with Summerhill) onto Portland Row, and go Right at the the next major junction (the Five Lamps). As you proceed (now on Amiens Street), you will pass under a large railway bridge.

Amiens Street to HEAnet/IFSC

Immediately after the large railway bridge overhead, you will pass Lower Sheriff Street (actually under the bridge on your left, as you drive past) and Connolly Station (on your left). Take the next left turn onto the North Quays (Custom House Quay). Continue straight for 250 metres, and take the left turn onto Commons Street. At the next junction, turn left onto Mayor Street, and the building HEAnet is in on your right - Georges Dock 5. Turn right onto the private road just after it, then right into the ramp for the HEAnet car park. HEAnet's car park spaces are accessed by turning sharply right as soon as you pass the car park door in to the courtyard.

Driving to the IFSC via the Port Tunnel.

The IFSC is located very close to the city exit of the tolled Dublin Port Tunnel (http://www.dublinporttunnel.ie/). The tunnel can reduce your driving time at peak hours by up to fourty minutes. The tunnel can be reached by following the M50 northbound or the M1 southbound, upon exiting the tunnel toll plaza continue straight along East Wall Road until you reach the quays where you will take a right turn at the small roundabout (do not cross the River Liffey). Continue along North Wall Quay until you reach the second set of traffic lights (located beside the Jeanie Johnston and Citibank headquarters) where you will turn right onto Commons Street, at the next set of traffic lights turn left onto Mayor Street, HEAnet's offices will be on your right, a set down area and HEAnet parking (see below) will be located on your right hand side off Mayor Street.

By bus

Dublin Bus operates two express services from the Airport - routes 747 and 784:

Both services pass through BusÁras, the Central Bus Station. HEAnet's offices are 5 minutes walk from this station. Alighting from the bus, exit the station and walk east towards the IFSC complex. The main pedestrian road through the IFSC is Mayor Street. HEAnet is in building 5 (Georges Dock 5 is the postal address), on the 1st floor.

By Rail

The Luas Red Line which passes outside Heuston Station will take you to the IFSC, one in every two Luas services will stop at the George's Dock Luas Stop which is located 20 meters before our office. All other Luas services will terminate at Connolly Station. Connolly Station is located close to the Amiens Street entrance to the IFSC, exit Connolly station by the main exit and take the external escalators down to the Connolly Station Luas Stop, follow the footpath beside the Luas line that branches left into the IFSC onto Mayor Street, our office is located twenty meters after the Luas stop 'Georges Dock'. Rail services that terminate at Pearse Street Station will leave you within a 10 minute walk of the IFSC. Exit Pease Street station turning right down Lombard Street and continue in this direction crossing the Sean O'Casey footbridge over the River Liffey and then straight into the CHQ building, as you exit the opposite end of the CHQ building you will see 5 Georges Dock across the street to your right.

By Bicycle

The nearest dublinbikes (http://www.dublinbikes.ie/) stand is located at the northern side of the Sean O'Casey bridge, enter the CHQ building which is located opposite the dublinbikes stand, as you exit the opposite end of the CHQ building you will see 5 Georges Dock across the street to your right. A bicycle stand is located directly opposite our building, bicycle parking in our basement can be arranged by calling us in advance (shower facilities are also available upon request).

Parking

Limited parking spaces are available at HEAnet's offices at no charge, please call in advance to book a space. Public car parking is available at
the Connolly Station car park (http://www.irishrail.ie/your_journey/carpark_information.asp ), the National College of Ireland car park (http://www.ncirl.ie/Corporate_Services/Conference_Facilities/Parking) and the IFSC car park (http://www.dublinks.com/maps/IFSC-Car-Park ).
Parking is available at the Luas Red Cow Park and Ride (http://www.luas.ie/page.php?name=Red_Cow_Car_Park_Red_Line), which may be
particular benefit for those driving to Dublin from the West or South during peak times, the journey time by Luas is 35 minutes to the IFSC (journey time by car may be considerably longer during peak hours).
