Luke Drury, DIAS

Computer GRID in Ireland

The talk will discuss the concept of Grid computing, outline the current state of international developments in the field, and then consider the Irish context and the prospects for Grid developments within Ireland.

Professor Luke Drury

Luke Drury was born in Dublin in 1953 and studied experimental physics and pure mathematics at Trinity College Dublin graduating in 1975.
He went on to do a PhD in astrophysics at the Institute of Astronomy, Cambridge, England and subsequently worked at the Max-Planck-Institut fuer Kernphysik, Heidelberg, Germany before returning to Dublin in 1986 as head of the Astrophysics section of the School of Cosmic Physics in the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies.
