Intelligent control system for residential gateways (RGs), in the home, and local access points (LAPs), in an ISP. LAP comprises three Flextel blades: core-side, access-side, management-blade.
Investigation of the IPsec overhead on LAPs (feasible using Linux USAGI Kernel and AES for encryption; now testing with vanilla kernel 2.5.7.5)
Services on this network in testbeds in MC Labs Basel (CH) and University of Stuttgart (DE): video streaming of MPEG2 (VideoLAN, Apache2)
Intrusion detection on IPv6 (deployed on management blade of LAP)
NOTE: tesion (DE) upgraded all their core routers to IPv6/MPLS for use in field trials in Torrent.
