IPv6 Addressing Basics

  • An IPv6 address is 128 bits long.

  • The address is constructed using the Hex character set.

  • The address is constructed with 8 2byte sections, each separated by a colon.

  • 2001:0770:0008:001A:0000:0000:0000:0001 is an example of an IPv6 address.
