will be holding extra workshops providing practical experience in the areas
of Federated Access and Security on Wednesday afternoon. As workshops are
limited to 20 people we recommend you register today to avoid
disappointment.

Federation Workshop 1: Federating your users’ identities (Wednesday: 14:00 – 15:30)
In this workshop HEAnet will demonstrate how to align your campus directory with the Edugate federation schema without altering your campus schema. The workshop will also present the current federation software and deployment options, and how federated access can provide Single-Sign-On within the campus and within the Edugate federation.
Federation Workshop 2: Federating with Microsoft (Thursday: 11:00-12:00)
This workshop will introduce Microsoft's free Live@EDU student email and tools and will demonstrate how to provide Single-Sign-On to Live@EDU and Microsoft applications and services. The workshop will conclude with a look at the important changes coming in Microsoft federated identity roadmap.
Federation Workshop 3: Federating with Mahara (Thursday: 12:00-12:30)
Enovation Solutions will provide an overview of the Mahara e-Portfolio platform and how it can be used within the campus and as a shared service by accepting a federated login. HEAnet will demonstrate how federated access can be used to quickly deploy Mahara at the institution.
Federation Workshop 4: Federating with Google Apps (Thursday: 13:45-14:45)
Google Apps for Education is a popular service used by Irish institutions. In this workshop Google will provide an overview of Google Apps followed by case study by Dublin City University of their recent implementation. The workshop will also demonstrate how DCU’s use of federated access has enabled Single-Sign-On to Google Apps and also within the Edugate federation.
Federation Workshop 5: Data protection in a federated world (Friday: 11:15-12:30)
A federation built on the foundation of shared user data needs careful attention to an institutions data protection obligations. This workshop will explain how it is proposed to tackle data protection within the Edugate federation and demonstrate how the content of an institutions directory can be protected from unwarranted data sharing.

Security Workshop 1: Hack the network (Wednesday: 14:00 – 15:30 & Thursday: 13:45-14:45)
This workshop will focus on the application side of security. A variety of hacker tools and test equipment will be provided allowing delegates to perform both network and application attacks. Along with hands-on tutorials there will be discussions on prevention and strategies for mitigation of the attacks.
Security Workshop 2: Combating email abuse (Thursday: 11:00-12:30 & Friday: 11:15-12:30)
This workshop aims to identify and discuss a range of methods of combatting email abuse. This includes stopping spam, phishing, unsuitable material and viruses from reaching your users' inboxes. The workshop will cover RBLs, heuristics, greylisting, anti-virus systems and mail server configurations. Information on or an ability to access your mailserver configuration is required for this workshop.
