HEAnet nominated for Tech Excellence Award

HEAnet has been nominated with Agile Networks for the Public Sector Project of the Year Award for the Schools 100 Mbit/s project.

Every post-primary school in the country now has high speed broadband connections as a result of a €30 million, three year programme rolled out on behalf of the Government by HEAnet, Ireland’s National Education and Research Network. This equates to 780 school locations including all post-primary schools as well as special and hospital schools. “Leveraging our existing higher education backbone network for the purposes of providing high-speed connectivity to schools is a key feature of this programme”, said John Boland, HEAnet Chief Executive.

This project was delivered by HEAnet on behalf of DES and DCENR.  Agile Networks were one of a number of key partners who assisted us in its delivery.  Our appreciation also extends to the staff at each of Ireland’s post-primary schools which made this project such a success.
The Tech Excellence Project of the Year Award is presented to the vendor or reseller responsible for delivering an outstanding application of enterprise-level technology to a client in the public sector.  The Awards Ceremony is taking place at The Ballsbridge Hotel, Dublin on 14th May 2015.
