FileSender makes the move to HTML5

HTML5

HEAnet has recently upgraded FileSender (large file transfer service) to a HTML5 compatible module, which can be used with modern browsers supporting the HTML5 FileAPI. http://filesender.heanet.ie

FileSender relied heavily on the use of Google Gears to facilitate the uploading of files larger than 2GB, which browsers were unable to do natively. However, following Google's announcement that Google Gears would no longer be supported or available for download from December 2011, the FileSender team have been working hard to find an alternative and have recently upgraded our version of FileSender to a new HTML5 compatible version, thus removing any dependency on Google Gears.
