HEAnet Extends Knowledge Economy into Gaeltacht

Broadband Gaeltacht

NUI Galway and Údaras na Gaeltachta initiative extends 100Mbps HEAnet broadband services to Galway and Donegal Gaeltachtai

As well as facilitating applications such as voice, data and video streaming for HEAnet’s clients, the Connemara region, where the option space for telecoms services has been very limited, will benefit greatly by having a high speed telecommunications backbone infrastructure. AirSpeed Telecom will make this previously unavailable uncontended, symmetrical capacity available to businesses and residential providers operating in the region at competitive commercial rates. This is a significant development to enable the region to provide an essential resource to existing businesses and enhance its attractiveness for new businesses to locate there.
