Next Generation Broadband in Ireland – the HEAnet perspective
In November 2009 the Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) issued a report detailing a high level summary of the general views of the respondents to its discussion document ‘Next Generation Broadband in Ireland – promoting the timely and efficient development of high speed broadband infrastructure and services’.
HEAnet was one of 21 parties who submitted a response. A copy of the HEAnet response can be viewed here.
The Discussion Document offered perspectives on the range of policy, technical and regulatory issues which could support a timely and efficient move towards the increased availability of high speed Next Generation Broadband (NGB) services in the market. The ComReg report shows strong support for Next Generation Broadband in Ireland.

Release of Spectrum in the 2300 – 2400 MHz band – the HEAnet perspective
In October 2009 the Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) issued a consultation paper setting out its proposals for releasing 2300 - 2400 MHz spectrum, in order to increase the range of technologies and services and level of competition in the wireless broadband market. ComReg invited interested parties to submit their views on the important and interesting proposals in the consultation paper.
HEAnet was one of 20 parties who submitted a response. A copy of the HEAnet response can be viewed here.
ComReg believes, together with many respondents to this consultation, that this band can greatly facilitate the deployment of new and innovative technologies and services.
