HEAnet streams Budget 2010 live
As more and more people turned to the Internet to view the December Budget, the HEAnet streaming was watched by a record number of viewers.
16,304 unique viewers from 83 countries across the world viewed the HEAnet streaming live. In total, we were running 4 Windows Media Servers and 6 Flash Media Servers, which were handling, at peak, 9100 concurrent viewers and pushing 4.49Gbit/s of traffic. (The traffic graph below illustrates this peak.)
79% of viewers were based in Ireland with the next largest concentration of viewers from the UK at 9% followed by the USA at 3%.
Along with oireachtas.ie, many leading media sites, including, irishtimes.com, newstalk.ie, independent.ie, businessandfinance.ie and breakingnews.ie had the video embedded on their websites.
