Media Hosting Service

The HEAnet Media Hosting Service provides hosting, transcode and streaming of video content for HEAnet member institutions.

How it works

Users upload there original videos using an easy to use upload form. The videos are transcoded into streaming formats such as Flash Media, Windows Media and h.264. The videos are then available to be embedded in the user's websites or to be viewed by using a unique URL.

Who can use the service?

Any HEAnet member institutions can avail of the service. The service use the Edugate federation service for authenication. For a user to log into the service, their institution must be a member of the Edugate federation.

Africa connects to Europe through GÉANT and UbuntuNet

Radio astronomers in Africa and across the globe will benefit from faster collaboration through a dedicated, high speed 15,000 km network link between the pan-European GÉANT and African UbuntuNet Alliance education networks announced today.
