EduStorage is implemented using two dedicated storage clusters based in separate Data Centres and operated by HEAnet engineers. We have used petabyte scalable hardware and leading edge cloud provisioning software to give you control over the resources you pay for.
The clusters use IBM Storwize v7000 storage nodes, populated initially with 500
TB of SSD, SAS, SATA disks, which are configured for dynamic tiering to keep disk costs down by hosting frequently accessed data on the fastest RAM based disks, and less frequently accessed data on more cost effective traditional disks.
The dynamic tiering system seamlessly moves data between tiers. The two storage clusters are connected to each other and to our national backbone using a 10Gb/s network, providing for instantly scalable access to your data.
