Using Cisco Catalyst Center to leverage the latest technologies on our Wired and Wireless Network
I would like to present on our Journey over the last number of years with the implementation of Cisco Catalyst Centre within the South East Technological University campus in Waterford.
Areas of discussion would involve the following:-
- AI and ML use within Catalyst Centre in relation.
Give an overview of the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning tools used within Catalyst Centre and how they are implemented and used to provide valuable insight and information about the current and historic status of our network and how it can provide predictive failure indications. - AI-Enhanced Radio Resource Management (AI-RRM) for Wireless endpoints.
Using AI Enhanced RRM to base line the state of the Wireless Network and using feedback from the both the AP’s and Clients, to enable micro adjustments to the frequency and power levels of all the AP’s to provide the optimal wireless experience to our users across the 2.4/5/6Ghz spectrum. - AI based Endpoint analytics for wired and wireless endpoints.
How the AI endpoint analytics profiles the endpoints that are connected to the wired and wireless networks and uses this information to provide the ability to dynamically allocate or assign the device into a specific network segment, with the ability to automatically contain or quarantine the endpoint should it match an event or traffic pattern that you have specified. - Machine Learning use for the determination of networking issues and the root cause analysis to help resolve them.
Show examples of where Machine Learning is used to help identify and resolve issues on the network and where it can suggest courses of action and run commands to help determine what further steps need to completed, this can include links to documentation and tools that would aid in finding a successful resolution - How to use Assurance to identify and resolve issues on network devices and endpoints.
Assurance within Catalyst Centre is a dashboard that gives current and historic information for all Users, Endpoints and Devices that the system has received telemetry information for going back a minimum of 14 days and longer. This information is context rich and provides a timeline of events within a single window that significantly reduces the time required to get the full picture on issues. - Using Catalyst Centre to help with design and capacity planning on your network.
The ability to create reports on the fly within Catalyst Centre based on variable Time/Area/Device parameters allow for much more precise information to be analysed to help identify problem areas within the network.
The real-time heat maps of the wireless networks provides up-to-date details of the wireless coverage that make it easy to identify blackspots and issues.
The ability for us to receive Temp/Humidity/Air Quality from the newest AP’s that we have deployed on our network, gives us the ability to use this telemetry to see if we can feedback to our Building Management Systems (BMS) to make intelligent decisions with Temp Control and Air Handling within classrooms to improve our students experience.
