HEAnet announces the appointment of Ronan Byrne as its new CEO
We are delighted to announce that Ronan Byrne has been appointed as the new HEAnet CEO.
Ronan’s career at HEAnet extends back to 2004 and he has overseen many large-scale programmes over this time, including the development of the Schools Broadband Network, migration of the Institute of Technologies from ITNet, the establishment of the Edugate National Federated Identity Service, delivery of a 100Gb network backbone, and building a high performing Brokerage Services unit that delivers more than €7m savings for the sector annually.
Ronan is a member of the Board of Directors of the EOSC (European Open Science Cloud) Association, and a member of the Irish Government’s National Open Research Forum steering group. Ronan also represents HEAnet at the GÉANT General Assembly and is Chair of a GÉANT Network Infrastructure Advisory Committee advising on the upgrade of the pan-European GÉANT network.
HEAnet and EduCampus recognised as one of the Top 100 in Wellbeing Company Index and shortlisted for The KeepWell Awards
Ibec launched a Top 100 in Wellbeing Company Index in association with the Business and Finance media group. The index acknowledges companies across Ireland who are leading the way for employee wellbeing and who, through their commitment to instilling a best practice approach, have made a lasting impact on their employees and on the business community. We are delighted to share that HEAnet and EduCampus have been selected for this index.
Additionally, HEAnet and EduCampus were shortlisted for The KeepWell Awards for the Best in Class: Leadership and Company of the Year: Medium by the independent judges of Ibec’s KeepWell Mark initiative, in recognition of our efforts to support mental health and wellbeing of employees at work. The winners of the awards will be announced on the 2nd September 2021.
HEAnet, through its partnership with GÉANT, has made a pan-European Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) framework available to all researchers in Ireland. The 2020 IaaS+ Framework is aimed at further accelerating the adoption of cloud services by research and education institutions.
Take a look at our case study developed with the AI_PREMie Team to see what impact the 2020 IaaS+ Framework has on researchers.
We hope that you already saved 9-11th March 2022 in your diary for the HEAnet Conference. The call for papers will be announced very soon.
