International Collaboration in the RENaaS Project, lowering the threshold for NRENs ▶

Speakers

Frank Slyne - TCD

This talk focuses on the development and implementation of the RENaaS (Research and Education Network as a Service) project, led by TCD with strong cooperation with HEAnet. This initiative, funded by the GEANT Innovation Programme, operates on a global scale across Ireland, South America, and Africa with the intent of developing a sustainable National Research and Education Network (NREN) infrastructure. Using a mix of commodity hardware, cloud services, and virtualisation technologies, the RENaaS project provides a framework for developing nations to build and extend their academic networks cost-effectively. This fosters collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation, as showcased through the successful implementation in Cape Verde.
