Brief bio’s of our Heads of Function:
Kerrie Power was appointed Chief Executive of HEAnet CLG by the Board of Directors in June 2017.
Kerrie Power was appointed Chief Executive of HEAnet CLG by the Board of Directors in June 2017. Kerrie has over 15 year’s leadership experience and a strong track record in the technology sector. Before joining HEAnet, Kerrie worked in Google in Dublin and New York and also Facebook. More recently, she has headed up technology start-ups in Dublin including Nordeus Games and YouPass Technologies.
Kerrie is a graduate of WIT, with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Computing and holds a Master of Business Administration from Liverpool University, a Professional Diploma in Organisational Change and Transformation, a Professional Diploma in Strategy Development and Innovation. She is currently completing a third Professional Diploma in Leadership as well as completing her final year of Masters of Science in Business Practice and Leadership at UCD Michael Smurfit Business School.
Kerrie represents Ireland on the GÉANT General Assembly and was elected to the board of GEANT in Nov 2019. She is also on the Board of HEAnet’s subsidiary company EduCampus.
Kerrie was also invited by the Department of Higher Education to join the Covid 19 TES Steering group as a subject matter expert, and currently chairs the connectivity sub-group of the Covid 19 TES Steering group.
Deputy CEO/Chief Technology Officer
Ronan has responsibility for Strategy, Innovation, Services Development, Technical Delivery, Schools Connectivity, Federated Identity, Brokerage Services, Research Engagement, PMO and Services Planning.
Prior to joining HEAnet, Ronan established a successful track record of large-scale ICT programme delivery, delivering to some of the most respected organisations in Ireland, across both private and public sectors. Previous employers include Fujitsu, Via Networks, ICL, and Aer Lingus.
Ronan holds an MSc in Business (Leadership & Management Practice) from the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School and an MSc in Internet Systems from DCU. Ronan is also an Associate Member of The Governance Institute.
Client Services Director
John is the Client Services Director at HEAnet.
John comes to HEAnet from The University of Western Australia, where he led transformative changes within Information Services in how they approached their service delivery to clients.
John is a member of the HEAnet executive team, and his primary focus is ensuring that the services HEAnet deliver are relevant to the needs of our clients.
John graduated from the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, holds an MSc in Internet Systems from DCU and an MBA from the Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University.
Technical Services Director
Brian is our Technical Services Director, managing a number of teams who maintain our network infrastructure and deliver our services portfolio.
Before joining HEAnet in 2002, Brian worked at Indigo/Eircom in telecommunications and infrastructure development, and in manufacturing operations and software development in Motorola. Brian holds a B.Sc in Computer applications from DCU.
During his time with HEAnet, Brian has worked on a wide variety of projects, initially in project and service management (using qualifications gained along the way in Prince2 project management and ITIL service management), then as a team manager, and now as the Director of Technical Services, which consists of the teams operating and developing the infrastructure that deliver HEAnet’s service portfolio.
As a senior executive in the organisation, Brian is also responsible for engaging with stakeholders, funding conversations, business case research and development, and providing insight into organisational strategic planning and execution. He has worked on a wide variety of projects, using qualifications gained along the way in Prince2 project management and ITIL service management.
People Operations Director
Susie is our People Operations Director at HEAnet.
Susie came from Musgrave Wholesale Partners, supporting the wholesale and Foodservice areas in a time of organisational change. Susie is a Functional Head in HEAnet who has responsibilities for People Operations. This incorporates all people related matters for HEAnet as well as supporting our subsidiary EduCampus Services. Susie’s focus is ensuring that our people at the centre of what we do and how we work together.
Susie graduated from the Dublin Institute of Technology and holds a MSc in Human Resource Management from the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business. She also holds Chartered Fellowship Membership with CIPD (The professional body for HR and people development).
Dónal Ó Cearbhaill
Schools Network Director
Dónal is our Schools Network Director
Dónal and has been working with HEAnet since 2004 and is responsible for providing Ireland’s schools (primary & post-primary) with high-availability internet and network security services.
Dónal has over 19 years experience in the technology sector and previously worked for Oracle in Dublin and EF Education in Boston, Massachusetts.
He is a graduate of the National University of Ireland Galway with a degree in Electronic & Computer Engineering.
