The Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Pat Rabbitte, T.D., has reaffirmed his objective to roll out high speed broadband to all second level schools in Ireland on a phased basis, following a successful pilot programme which has delivered 100mgbs broadband to 78 second level schools.

TF-NOC has launched a survey about the operational experiences and software tools used for the main functions of Network Operation Centres (NOC), including those related to monitoring, problem-solving, performance, change management, ticketing, reporting and communication. The survey will also collect basic information about NOC internal structures, organisational processes and potential collaborative efforts.

Researchers benefit from early compliance by HEAnet

Dublin, Ireland, 03 June 2011 – Research networks across Europe, including HEAnet in Ireland have announced that they have successfully deployed the IPv6 protocol, the next generation of internet addressing technology. Working with network co-ordination centre Réseaux IP Européens (RIPE), research networks have achieved IPv6 compliance and will be taking a leading part in next week’s World IPv6 Day (8 June 2011), which tests IPv6 compatibility.

HEAnet, Juniper Networks and ADVA Optical Networking have successfully demonstrated the automated setup of optical circuits between Juniper Networks routers via an ADVA Optical Networking Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) optical network, using a common signalling protocol.
