HEAnet Launches DNS Zone Manager, a New Self-Service DNS Platform
HEAnet has introduced DNS Zone Manager, a self-service platform designed to give IT teams across client institutions direct control over their HEAnet-hosted DNS zones. The platform represents a significant step forward for DNS operations, combining long-trusted stability with increased autonomy and operational speed.
The system is built on established open-source technologies and enables administrators to make DNS changes instantly through a secure web interface. This shift removes the need for routine support tickets, which contributes to a more efficient workflow and reduces turnaround time for common updates. The ability to act at any time of day reinforces our modern operational model where institutions benefit from immediate, uninterrupted service management.
DNS Zone Manager is available to all HEAnet clients at no additional cost, as part of our ongoing commitment to delivering reliable, high-quality infrastructure services to the education and research community. The interface has been developed with clarity and ease of use in mind, making DNS administration more approachable for teams without deep DNS expertise.
Although the platform prioritises self-service, HEAnet’s support desk remains on hand for complex queries or assistance, ensuring continuity for institutions that prefer guided help.
HEAnet clients interested in adopting DNS Zone Manager or seeking further information can contact noc@heanet.ie.
