IT Services Maynooth University has used Windows Autopilot since 8th April 2020. Windows Autopilot is a collection of technologies used to set up and pre-configure new devices, getting them ready for productive use. The device is shipped directly from the manufacture to the user with a zero-touch approach applied. The user receives the device and logs on with their profile being pulled down when they first log on.  We use Autopilot to reset, repurpose, and recover devices. This solution enables us to achieve the above with little to no infrastructure to manage, with a process that is both easy to use and fully transparent. Autopilot simplifies the device lifecycle, for both IT and end users, from initial deployment to end of life. Using cloud-based services, Windows Autopilot:

  • reduces the time IT spends on deploying, managing, and retiring devices.
  • reduces the infrastructure required to maintain the devices.
  • maximizes ease of use for all types of end use
  • can address security threats as they arise.
