Gerard Culley
IT Manager, Cork Institute of Technology
Gerard is the IT manager in Cork Institute of Technology. His role primarily involves the delivery of IT Services to the Staff and Students of Cork Institute of Technology, including managing the internal team, budgets, procurement and service delivery of vendors such as An Cheim, HEAnet and other IT vendors, such as cloud providers. IN 2008 CIT implemented Google Apps for students currently have almost 20000 users using the email and portal solution.
Gerard has 15 years’ experience in IT Management within the private sector, working for the Musgrave Group and Heineken International. Gerard joined Cork Institute of Technology in 2008 has been involved in a number of projects to centralise and develop the IT Services within the college. One of the key projects at present in CIT is the building of Cloud Infrastructure to support the Masters in Cloud Computing, a partnership between CIT, EMC, VMware and Cisco.
He has worked Internationally for Heineken to establish an IT shared services centre, based in Amsterdam and is involved in the Steering Group on a number of National projects, such as IoT Modularisation project, EduGate project, HEAnet procurement group.
