Billy Glynn
Team Leader - Application Support and Development Technical Services, IEDR
Billy Glynn is responsible for Application Support and Development activities in the IE Domain Registry Limited (IEDR), the company which operates and manages dot IE – the world’s second safest country code top-level domain. During his ten year career at the company Billy has been instrumental in the automation of mission-critical business systems and registration services for the local Internet community. In particular, he led the development of secure automated interfaces for accredited registrars, which was a major enabler of the volume growth of the .ie namespace over that period. He was responsible for the deployment of an IPv6 nameserver for the .ie namespace in 2004, making IEDR one of the first European registries to do so.
Billy completed an M.Sc MIS in Trinity College Dublin (TCD) in September 2010, and his thesis examined DNS Security Extensions (DNSSEC) in an Irish context. Earlier this year, Billy presented at SATIN 2011 (Securing and Trusting Internet Names) on this topic in the National Phyisical Laboratory (NPL) London. Billy is leading the deployment of DNSSEC in the dot IE county-code top-level domain.
