Darren Fitzpatrick is a senior information security consultant at Ireland’s only full service Information Security firm Espion, which has dedicated specialist teams in Information Governance, Technology Distribution, Forensics & eDiscovery, Security Management and Research & Training.
Darren is part of the Information Governance team which provides cutting edge offensive, defensive and reactive strategies to protect organisation’s information, and offers the most authoritative guidance on meeting information governance and compliance obligations.
His skills and experience span penetration and vulnerability testing for both large and small scale networks including PCI compliance undertakings and delivering training to aid clients in recreating parts of the penetration testing process. Darren’s penetration testing undertakings include internal, external wireless and VPN networks along with web, thick clients and mobile applications to avoid making coding mistakes which could lead to security issues.
In the area of server hardening he has configured sensitive, mission critical, internet facing servers to reduce vectors of attack and carried out assessments of security for sensitive network environments. He has also worked on many large scale, international forensic cases, providing ediscovery and edisclosure expertise in the capture and processing of large volumes of data for analysis by legal teams.
He holds two masters degrees in the field. His first MSc was taught and titled ‘MSc. In Security and Forensic Computing’. His second MSc was by research with thesis titled ‘Intrusion Detection and Security Assessment in a University Network’.
