HEAnet is proud to support the launch of the IrelandQCI Quantum & Answers trailer, a new mobile engagement initiative designed to raise public awareness of quantum technologies and their role in the future of secure digital infrastructure.
The trailer was officially unveiled at Trinity College Dublin on 29 May, where it was introduced to an audience of stakeholders from across government, academia, and industry.
The Irish Government was represented by Patrick Neary, Assistant Secretary – Communications at the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications, which co-funds the IrelandQCI project. He was joined by Dr Linda Doyle, Provost of Trinity; Dr Deirdre Kilbane, IrelandQCI Project Lead and Director of Research at the Walton Institute, South East Technological University (SETU); John Regan, Managing Director of ESB Telecoms and IrelandQCI consortium partner; and Professor Dan Kilper, Director at the CONNECT Research Centre for Future Networks.
HEAnet’s Eoin Kenny, Innovation and R&D Manager, attended the launch and welcomed the initiative’s role in engaging the public with quantum technologies.
“Quantum communication is a foundation for future-ready cybersecurity and digital trust. IrelandQCI is enabling important progress in this space” – Eoin Kenny, HEAnet.
The Quantum & Answers trailer will travel across Ireland, engaging schools and communities with interactive exhibits and information about the quantum technologies that will underpin future digital infrastructure.
This is part of the broader IrelandQCI project, a €10 million initiative to build Ireland’s national quantum communications infrastructure. The project is Ireland’s contribution to the European Quantum Communication Infrastructure (EuroQCI) programme, which aims to create a secure and resilient pan-European quantum network.
HEAnet is proud to play a key role as the national partner in this forward-looking collaboration.
